It is awfully quiet without you here. I never thought I would miss hearing Fox News blasting or you telling me the latest news on politics haha. I know you are at peace and had your wish of no nursing home or medical intervention filled. Over two years of caring for someone around the clock has now left me not knowing what to do. You told us to have fun when you were gone and the fun seems to be laughing at things that had happened. Guess the point I'm making is that we miss you more than we even thought we would.

I am certainly not a poet, but after several days of thinking about my step-father, I came up with this. For anyone reading my poem who has any writing skill, well, its the best I could do with my non-existent talent: Its early fall and I find myself walking the Jersey shore collecting shells. A storm came through last night. The ocean is still full of swells. The waves crash down but nothing bothers me. Not the cares of everyday life or the roar of the sea. Its great to be twenty-one again and not have a care in the world. Just spending my time picking shells and thinking about all the pretty girls. In an hour I'll meet my buddies at the inlet to watch the boats. They'll have a couple of beers while I drink a root beer float. Soon some girls will walk by and talk to us. Me first, of course. Because this is MY afterlife. All good times with no remorse.

Dear Pop Ken, we posted our condolences to you on Saturday, but apparently for some reason I did something wrong (as usual). So here we go again. We just want you to know we will miss you so very much. We have such good memories of you & Betty, like when we came down the shore every year and stopped by to see you both and tried to get you to go out with us to grab a bite to eat. Even after Betty passed we enjoyed the little visits we had with you. It was always so good to see you. We still have the beach chair you gave us and Lynne' still has the beautiful shells you gave her. You and Betty will always be in our thoughts and prayers with much love. We had so many good times so many years ago. Things like that you never forget. It's just a shame families drift apart as time goes by but memories always stay alive in our hearts. Pop, I hope you are happy, healthy and at peace. I will miss being reminded every Wednesday that it was time again for me to get your lottery, sharing with you all my snowboarding stories, talking about the latest football games and many other little things. I am blessed to say that I had a great grandfather for 23yrs, not many people can say that. I'm glad you got see me start college and how proud you said you were of me. I'm also proud of my mom of what a good job she did taking care of you and everyone else here the last few years. We all appreciate what you have done for us just as much as you said you appreciated mom. Rest in peace

Hmmm there were supposedly heart broken people and another who claimed she felt he was like a real father but yet no one was at his burial nor even sent flowers for his grave. So sad. Pop predicted it all to a tee.

Kathy, Tony, Ashley, Ryan, & Jaime, Lil V & I send our condolences. We are so sorry for the loss of Pop. Kathy, you were an exceptional caretaker. I was always able to relate bc of going through the same situation. I'm sorry that the kids had to embrace another death. Those kids will come out stronger in the end. You have many memories with pop. He will always watch over you all. He's no longed suffering. If you need anything, you know my number, I'm here anytime you need. We love you! My husband, daughter and I were saddened to hear that Ken had passed. We all have wonderful memories spending time with him. He was very generous to us and from the time he married my mother, I thought of him as my real father. I look forward to seeing him someday in the next life and hope he has found peace.

I would just like to say that I have spent plenty of time with George these past few years. He did not want to see or speak to his daughter Gail. He has expressed this to me several times when he was in his sound mind. I think the behavior outside of his household is disgusting. He was in excellent hands at where he was residing. He was extremely grateful for his granddaughter Kathy. She was an amazing caretaker. He was extremely proud of his great grandchildren he also resided with. From what George told me, his daughter Gail did not have a working relationship with any of them. The extended family outside of his household should be ashamed of themselves for their uncalled for behavior. He made sure his feelings were both documented in words and recordings. George may you rest in peace and my condolences go out to Kathy, her husband, & children.

Anymore negative comments from Gail or her friends are complete lies. She had several years to amend her relationship with her father. She did not want to until it was too late and his mind and failed. When his mind was fine he wanted no talking to her not seeing her. This is all documented with the state, lawyers and all hospice personnel. Comments that are untrue will be deleted. The people who knew my Pop knows his true feelings. I was the only one who agrees to care for him. Give up the phoniness. It's only happening now when he can't speak for himself. He was home plenty and always called his friends, he chose to never call his daughter

We are so sorry to hear about Big Ken's passing..at one time we were all considered family and somehow things changed..My heart goes out to his family especially his daughter Gail and son inlaw Ray..who are heart broken that they were kept from making peace with him before his passing..I will pray for family unity and for those who have hearts and souls that are not sincere and that they may find a better way of life... Dear Dad, I am so sorry I wasn't allowed to be a part of your life during your final years. It would have meant so much to me just to have been able to hold your hand, tell you I loved you and give you a kiss on the cheek. I prayed for that but it wasn't meant to be. Dear Pop, I hope you are now at peace and with your family and friends. You use to always say you wanted to pass away and I always told you that it will happen in God's time. I'm glad that it happened quickly for you as I wouldn't want to see you suffer. I will always keep with me all our conversations, your words and the appreciation you most of the time showed.LOL Im so very glad you never had to be in a nursing home and I know times were not always the easiest when we were all adjusting but even now we miss you. The house is sooo quiet without Foxnews and I promise to try and remember to play the lottery as you said your dream was to win. Your numbers are actually already bought for this week.
